Angelo Kon Chol was born in Sudan and immigrated to Canada after being educated in Cuba. He is an active member of the Sudanese community in London, ON and visited Sud Academy in October of 2007.
Trisa Haak is the coordinator of the Sud Academy Advisory Committee. She first visited Sud Academy in September of 2004, and has made yearly visits to the school since that first visit. Inspired by the determination and potential of the students, she has been active in fundraising for the operating costs of the school.
David Broad works for Siskinds Law Firm and brings a wealth of experience in charitable work to the Sud Academy Advisory Committee. He has previously been on the board for Mission Services of London, and is past chair of council for the First Christian Reformed Church in London, ON.
Stephanie Dickson works for Siskinds Law Firm. A keen desire to get involved in volunteer charitable work is what inspired her to join the Sud Academy Advisory Committee.
Kellee Jacobs has been an active volunteer on the ground at Sud Academy. She first travelled to Nairobi from November '08 to April'09. She "caught the bug" of helping others, and returned in Sept. '09. Please see her blog www.kelleejacobs.blogspot.com for more pictures and information about the various projects she hopes to implement at Sud Academy to improve the learning environment there.
Lucy Karanja is a Kenyan who is currently completing doctorate work at the University of Western Ontario in the field of refugee education. She spent some months in 2008 at Sud Academy exploring the issues of refugee education.
Acuil Giir is a Sudanese individual who immigrated to Canada in 2000 after escaping the civil war in Sudan and spending many years in refugee camps. He is currently employed in the field of agriculture. His younger brother Duang Giir is a former student at Sud Academy. Acuil has visited Sud Academy on two different visits to Nairobi and keeps in contact with staff and students at the school.
Diane Broad is an ESL teacher and a deacon at the First Christian Reformed Church in London, ON. She brings to the Sud Academy Committee a passion for education.
Christine Boer is a teacher at London District Christian Secondary School and a ESL teacher. LDCSS has taken on Sud Academy as a service project for the past number of years. Christine is the liason person for fundraising efforts for Sud Academy at LDCSS.
Carol Campbell is the Canadian Aid for Southern Sudan representative on the Sud Academy Advisory Committee. She has been on the board at C.A.S.S. for many years, and has gone on trips to southern Sudan to implement and monitor their projects. She has also completed a documentary on C.A.S.S.'s work in southern Sudan.
